Thank you for signing up for my Substack page!
There is only one problem. There is no real content here. Yet… I have aspirations.
This was all set up when we closed the HacksOnTap newsletter that Robert Gibbs and I were writing. Our grand scheme was to start running a newsletter here. I think many of you might have subscribed thinking that and I thank you if you did. The old HacksOnTap newsletter was underwritten by Facebook, and when they closed the platform we were dramatically overpaid to be on, well, we stopped writing newsletters.
Gibbs and I are still thinking about starting up the newsletter here on Substack, but we’re very busy and finding the time to start grinding it out without a bloated paycheck is difficult. I do have other aspirations for this platform, but between political consulting, punditry, live speeches and my work in Hollywood time is hard to find, so we will see where that goes.
Oh, one more thing for you Murphy fans. It looks like I’m writing a book. More on that as it develops. It will be funny and about politics.
Speaking of books, don’t forget to check out my old pal. Ben Coes’ excellent series of best-selling action novels. They’re great fun and I’m actually in a few of them as a character. I am the sexy killing machine in case you were wondering.
In the meantime, check out the Hacks on Tap podcast.
Wow, this is turning into Hank’s Thoughts… such a ramble.
If you want real time tunnel stuff, and I’m not sure anybody would, you can go to an archive site I set up some years ago called mikemurphycommentary.com where a bunch of my old travel writing, op-ed’s, and general pontificating still exists. The travel stuff from the late lamented. Weekly Standard is particularly fun I think.
That’s it for now. But in the near future, I do hope to publish a few quick opinion essays, rants, and even post some of my old campaign based street photography. So stay tuned.
Best, Mike.
Hey Murphy ... "lefty commie" fan here. I'm not a commie, actually, just a run of the mill American (yes, we're still out there) with Democratic views. Thanks for keeping my liberalism honest. I always appreciate your opinion and viewpoint and, like Dennis Sullivan, your history references. Also: you're hilarious. Hacks on Tap is a great podcast; wonderful chemistry with the other guys. :) Looking forward to your Substack.
I'd just like to see a series analyzing the campaigns of the Republican wannabes the way you and Charlie did for--or to--Tim Scott. I doubt that it would seriously eat into your time and would be worth it to your readers, even in the absence of that 'bloated paycheck.'
